About the Role:

We are seeking software engineers at various levels to join our Traffic team, which builds and manages the networking fabric of Confluent Cloud. Cloud networking is a strategic focus for Confluent, with the potential to significantly influence our financial performance. The data plane in the Traffic team focuses on performance, security, reliability, and cost optimization for all traffic entering and leaving customer Kafka clusters on Confluent Cloud.

What You Will Do:

• Build large-scale distributed systems
• Develop and manage network data planes for containerized workloads in the cloud
• Monitor and optimize network data plane performance, scale, and costs

What You Will Bring:

• BSc, MSc, or PhD in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure and networking experience
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development
• Experience building and operating large-scale systems
• Solid understanding of systems operations (storage, network, OS)
• Proficiency in Go, Python, C++, or similar languages
• Experience with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)

What Gives You an Edge:

• Experience with Kubernetes networking
• Experience with Terraform or similar configuration management tools
• Strong networking background combined with software engineering skills
