Job summary

RX Global, part of RELX, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to design, build and operate secure, scalable software across global digital platforms. You will own complex technical challenges, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor engineers while collaborating with product and business stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes.

You will work on cloud-native applications on AWS, help improve observability, deployment, and engineering practices, and drive technical excellence

Qualifications

• Strong ability to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable, incremental solutions.
• Experience in Agile cross-functional product development teams.
• Experience designing, operating, and optimising cloud-native applications on AWS.

• Build secure, resilient, observable and maintainable systems with reduced long-term cost.

• Own the operational health of services, including monitoring and incident response.
• Work with Product and business stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing and knowledge sharing.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer II to join RX Global and help design, build and operate secure, scalable software products used across our global digital platforms. In this senior individual contributor role, you will take ownership of complex technical challenges, contribute to technical decision-making, and work closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to deliver meaningful customer and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain high-quality software across multiple services and components.
• Produce clear technical designs aligned to RX architecture principles and engineering standards.
• Build secure, resilient, observable and maintainable systems that reduce long-term operational cost.
• Lead pragmatic technical decision-making, making appropriate trade-offs between speed, quality and sustainability.
• Improve test strategy, deployment confidence, code quality and engineering practices across the team.
• Own the operational health of services, including monitoring, incident response, post-mortems and remediation.
• Work closely with Product and business stakeholders to deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, technical guidance and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Strong ability to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable, incremental technical solutions.
• Experience working in Agile, cross-functional product development teams.
• Experience designing, operating and optimising cloud-native applications on AWS, including services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, SNS, SQS and Elastic Beanstalk.
• Interest in AI-assisted engineering practices, including tools such as GitHub Copilot, Amazon Bedrock or agentic AI workflows.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to engineers, product teams and business stakeholders.
• Proven ownership of production services, including reliability, observability, incident response and continuous improvement.
• Track record of mentoring engineers and improving team engineering capability.
