Job summary

Formula Recruitment Limited in London is seeking a pragmatic Senior Software Engineer to own backend design and drive delivery across the full stack. You will shape APIs, data models and system architecture while collaborating with product and design teams to meet roadmap goals.

The role combines hands-on backend work with frontend exposure, using NestJS/Node.js on the server and Angular/Ionic on the client, in a hybrid London setting with strong growth potential.

Qualifications

• Solid full-stack experience with deep backend knowledge.
• Backend API design, data modelling and system design skills.
• Experience with NestJS or strong Node.js background.
• Frontend experience with Angular; Ionic is a plus.
• Familiar with Azure CI/CD pipelines and monorepos is advantageous.
• Strong communication and ownership of decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship features across the full stack, writing clean TypeScript.
• Lead backend design, data modelling, and API quality as the platform scales.
• Contribute to infrastructure and CI/CD decisions in Azure.
• Collaborate with Head of Engineering, product and design on roadmap delivery.
• Make pragmatic technical decisions balancing quality, speed, and maintainability.
• Share knowledge via pairing, code reviews, and team learning sessions.

Job description

Salary: £68,000 - 108,000 per year

Requirements

• Solid full-stack experience with genuine depth on the backend, including APIs, data modelling, and system design
• Strong experience with NestJS on the backend, or a solid Node.js background
• Frontend experience in Angular, ideally with exposure to Ionic as the framework layer
• A pragmatic approach to engineering with the ability to weigh trade-offs sensibly and keep delivery moving
• Familiarity with Azure CI/CD pipelines and monorepo tooling is a strong advantage
• Clear communication skills and confidence to take ownership of decisions
