Job summary

A leading technology firm in Dorchester is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their software team. This role involves contributing to the Infrastructure Monitoring System, developing new features, and providing technical support to the team. The ideal candidate should have a degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience, and at least 5 years of Software Development experience, including proficiency in Java. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Software team.

• You will contribute to a team of multi-disciplinary engineers responsible for the Infrastructure Monitoring System.

• You will be a key contributor to our Scrum team, bringing your experience in solving complex problems as we implement new features and improve existing offerings for the distributed system.

• You will regularly describe/present technical solutions to various stakeholders.

• You will work closely with the Product Owner and Scrum Master to provide regular releases/updates of the Infrastructure Monitoring System and the Web offering.

• Release cycle of approximately 3-4 months.

• You will develop new features for the Infrastructure Monitoring System and the associated Web offering.

• You will also maintain our current products.

• You will provide expert guidance on technical issues encountered by our on-site Field Engineering team.

• You will provide technical assistance and support to our end customers.

Your Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or relevant work experience.

• At least 5 years of Software Development experience.

• Minimum of 2 years of Java experience.

• Experience working in an Agile / Scrum environment.

• Knowledge of engineering tools across the software lifecycle, such as Atlassian, Mercurial / Git, Maven (or equivalent).

• Good networking knowledge, including protocols such as HTTP & TCP.

• Linux expertise is advantageous.

• Knowledge of signal processing techniques is advantageous.

• Knowledge of multi-threading and distributed processing is advantageous.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Work Location: Winfrith, Dorset, UK (Hybrid Working)

Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday
