Senior Software Engineer – Bolton – On-Site
Salary - £40,000 - £65,000 (Bonus, enhanced pension & annual leave)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a growing, high-performing team in Bolton, developing cutting-edge software solutions that underpin mission-critical defence systems. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to some of the most complex and advanced defence projects in the UK, making a real difference within the industry our client has a proven track-record as an excellent place to work with fantastic career progression opportunities.
Due to the nature of projects this role will be On-site, 5 days per week and our client has invested heavily at their facility to enhance the working experience. Please note that all candidates would undergo BPSS checks if successful.
The Senior Software Engineer will:
Play a vital role in the development and support of software solutions that are central to defence delivery systems. Working within a collaborative team of 5–7 engineers, the role involves end-to-end software development—from requirement gathering and design through to integration and support.
This is not just about coding one element in isolation. Engineers in this position gain exposure to a wide range of sub-systems, enabling a deep understanding of how software integrates within a larger defence ecosystem.
Technologies used include C++ and C#, with Agile methodologies (Scrum) guiding the development process. Engineers will also have the opportunity to contribute to software integration, delivery, and ongoing support within high-assurance environments.
