Capital One UK is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to support the Amazon Connect-powered UK Contact Centre from Nottingham. The role involves delivering voice and chat services, shaping the platform roadmap, and ensuring secure, scalable operation.

The position offers hybrid working patterns (in-office Tue–Thu) with remote days Mon & Fri, on-site amenities, and opportunities for career development and external qualification funding.

Qualifications

• Production-grade software engineering experience with full development lifecycle.
• Experience with AWS Serverless stack and cloud services.
• Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools such as Logz.io or New Relic.

Overview

Support the UK Contact Centre operation on Amazon Connect, delivering voice and chat services while driving platform roadmap and maintaining secure, stable service. The role works closely with product, engineering management, and architecture teams.

Location & Working Pattern

Nottingham, United Kingdom – Hybrid (Tuesday‑Thursday in‑office, Monday & Friday remote). Office amenities include on‑site gym, restaurant and Learning Loft.

Responsibilities

• Set and maintain engineering standards, mentoring peers.
• Design and own end‑to‑end software delivery, from architecture to production.
• Build test‑driven, resilient services that incorporate quality into all stages.
• Automate system optimisation, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and participate in incident management.
• Optionally join the 24/7 on‑call rota for extra pay.

Qualifications

• Production‑grade software engineering experience and deep knowledge of the development lifecycle.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Proficiency in Node/TypeScript or Go.
• Experience with AWS Serverless – Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3.
• Familiarity with Amazon Connect and custom front‑end portals.
• Knowledge of Jenkins for IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with monitoring & logging tools such as Logz.io or NewRelic.
