Job summary

The Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join the Technical Live Services team within Cabinet Office Digital in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. You will apply senior-level hands-on software development experience to shape government digital platforms and services for millions of users.

You will design and implement secure, scalable solutions, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor colleagues while adhering to government

Responsibilities

• Design, build, run, and improve secure digital services per government standards.
• Write clean, secure, well-tested code with documentation.
• Establish robust CI/CD pipelines for sites and services.
• Guide others on software development standards and practices.
• Deliver integrated, user-focused solutions across teams and platforms.
• Maintain live software using modern diagnostics to troubleshoot faults.
• Package and deploy releases; some activities outside core hours.
• Collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-value outcomes.
• Mentor teammates and share technical expertise.
• Travel between government sites for meetings and workshops.
