Job summary

AWD online is seeking a Senior Software Developer to combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership across UK applications and integrations. You will work with analysts and architecture colleagues to translate requirements into secure, maintainable solutions aligned with platform standards.

The Senior Software Developer will contribute to planning, code reviews, testing, release readiness and technical problem-solving while supporting consistent engineering practices across the team.

Qualifications

• Experience in modern programming languages and API development.
• Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and microservices.
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
• Skills in SQL and NoSQL database development and performance optimization.
• Experience with secure coding principles and maintainability best practices.
• Ability to mentor and support junior developers.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical input during early exploration, clarify requirements with analysts and architecture colleagues, and identify UK technical considerations.
• Contribute to estimates, delivery planning, risk identification and solution validation.
• Design, build and maintain secure, high-quality applications and APIs aligned with standards.
• Support code reviews, quality gates, problem-solving, coaching and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with wider engineering teams when UK changes affect shared systems.
