This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

Global Operational Excellence (GOX) develops operational excellence and drives Amazon's growth across various departments within the supply chain, including Cross Dock, Fulfillment Center Operations, Transportation, and Analytics.

We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to enhance our capabilities in analysis (statistical approaches) and Machine Learning products, including frontend development. You will collaborate with multiple departments such as Amazon Transportation Services, Logistics, and Global Transportation Services, and work closely with Operations to understand product flow and processes across the distribution chain.

The EU OPS DEA team is renowned for creating solutions that significantly improve customer experience, with many regional developments becoming global standards. You will work across various business functions, including Operations, Finance, Technology, and Change Management.

As an experienced developer, you will deliver well-tested releases, manage multiple projects, and support end-to-end deliverables while maintaining strong relationships with internal customers. Your ability to work with large datasets, develop solutions in both backend and frontend, analyze data insights, and communicate findings effectively will be crucial.

Key responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, automated, user-friendly solutions for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with program managers and teams across Operations, Finance, Technology, and Customer Experience to understand requirements and implement solutions.
  • Perform ad hoc data analysis and quality investigations.
  • Create training and documentation to maximize tool utilization.
  • Support analytical technologies providing timely, flexible data access.
About the team:

The Speed and Service Programs team is part of EU STEP, focusing on efficiency, speed, and sustainable growth. They oversee initiatives like One-Day plus Speed, Delivery Estimate Accuracy, and On Road Delivery Service, aiming to improve delivery speed and on-time performance across EU regions.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
  • Experience designing and architecting systems with reliable, scalable solutions.
  • Professional software development experience in the last 3 years.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C# with object-oriented design.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience with full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build, testing, and operations.
