About us

Genomical is a market leading Genomic Information Management System (GIMS) that makes genomic testing safer, easier, and scalable for laboratories. Originally developed by experts at Melbourne Genomics, Genomical is a proven GIMS that has enabled laboratories across Victoria to safely deliver thousands of clinical genomic tests across inherited conditions and cancer.

Transcendomics is an innovative company established in 2024 to best position Genomical for future growth and support the scale-up of clinical genomic testing across Australia and beyond.

About the role

We are growing and need multiple experienced, driven, full stack Software Developers to join an existing team of software developers and bioinformaticians, working closely with the management team.

At Transcendomics you will work in a highly rewarding and fast-paced sector, where you can use your integration and automation skills to build best practice secure systems that interact with RESTful APIs; improve existing applications; and develop processes to support end to end testing.

We’re looking for individuals who are passionate and resilient, motivated by our vision, and have highly tuned ability to work with others to bring out the best in the whole team. If you have these qualities and extensive experience with AWS, serverless architecture, cloud security, python, and learning new things quickly then we’d love to hear from you.

Experience with health messaging standards such as HL7 or FHIR, or other relevant passions, is also desirable.

You'll need to have a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or Software Engineering; industry experience; and have effective written and verbal communication skills.

Experience

• Extensive experience in AWS software development and serverless architecture
• Demonstrated ability to lead solution and security architecture
• Experience in cloud security including technical implementation of controls as well as security operations
• Extensive experience using Python
• Demonstrated ability to learn new languages and tools quickly.
• Extensive experience in the UNIX environment and the development of shell scripts.
• Extensive experience in developing and interacting with RESTful API services.
• Demonstrated commitment and use of software version control, and experience using GitHub.
• Extensive experience in working within an agile development team delivery structure.
• Experience integrating databases with other applications.
• Highly developed ability to understand and communicate technical requirements in the context of a multidisciplinary team.
• Familiar with UI / UX software development.
• Familiarity or interest in science, health and / or genomics.
• Experience working with genomic bioinformatic pipelines.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the areas of security, privacy and healthcare.
