Job summary

Youngs Employment Services seeks a Senior Software Developer to join a small, capable tech team moving a legacy booking platform to Azure and modern .NET. You will help build an AI-powered quotation platform and deliver production services with a strangler-fig migration.

You will design and ship services, contribute to migration strategy and work daily with AI-assisted tools in a hands-on senior role based in London with a hybrid setup.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of hands-on software development, predominantly in .NET/C#.
• Recent experience with modern .NET (preferably .NET 8 or later).
• Blazor experience is required.
• Strong Azure experience including App Service/Container Apps, Azure SQL, API Management and DevOps pipelines.
• Experience modernising legacy systems using strangler-fig or incremental migrations.
• Solid REST API design skills, microservices and event-driven patterns.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code).
• Identity and authentication experience (Entra ID/Azure AD, OAuth2 or OIDC).
• SQL Server or Azure SQL data modelling, performance and migration work.
• Clear communication; ability to own tasks in a small permanent team.
• Exposure to React or React Native in API-supported apps.
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation and LLM features.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and support cloud-based services in .NET 10 across Azure API Management and Azure SQL.
• Assist in modernising a core booking platform via strangler-fig migration.
• Work on anti-corruption layers, data sync, staged cutovers and zero-downtime releases.
• Develop reliable CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
• Build secure services in the Entra ID authentication space for staff and customers.
• Contribute to AI-enabled quotation and knowledge tools with human-in-the-loop processes.
• Collaborate with mobile, product and engineering teams where APIs are consumed.
• Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews and mentoring of graduates.

Salary: £65,000 - 75,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on software development experience, ideally 6-10 years, with the majority in .NET/C#.
• Recent experience with modern .NET, ideally .NET 8 or later.
• Blazor experience.
• Strong Azure experience, including App Service or Container Apps, Azure SQL, API Management and Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Experience modernising legacy systems, ideally using strangler-fig or similar incremental migration approaches.
• Good understanding of REST API design, microservices and event-driven architecture patterns.
• Practical day-to-day use of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code or similar.

• Comfortable working with SQL Server or Azure SQL data modelling, performance and migration activities.

• Take part in architecture discussions, code reviews and mentoring of graduate developers.

We are recruiting for a Senior Software Developer to join a small, highly capable technology team delivering a major legacy-to-cloud transformation. We are moving our core booking platform to an Azure and modern .NET solution, while also building an AI-powered quotation and knowledge platform that will be central to how our organisation works. This is a hands-on senior engineering role, and you will be joining at a point where the architecture, delivery approach and product direction still matter. You will design and ship production services, contribute to a structured strangler-fig migration, and use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude Code as part of everyday engineering practice. The role is based in London and is hybrid, with 3 days per week in the office. Salary is c£65,000 - £75,000 plus bonus, with some flexibility.
