JBA Consulting is seeking experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated Software Developers with skills in C# .NET to join our Technology, Data, and Software Development (TDSD) teams.

We undertake specialist system, software, and data development for the natural and built environment, working with organizations such as central government, environmental, transportation, utility organizations, and private companies like Network Rail, Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, Met Office, Innovate UK, and Local Authorities. Our reputation is built on providing innovative and novel web-based solutions, often requiring highly resilient, secure systems, and the presentation and analysis of large-scale data.

• Business information systems
• High-performance GIS and data management systems
• Database design, query optimization, and tuning
• Advanced GPU modeling software

We utilize a mix of commercial and open-source software, constantly experimenting with the latest tools, technologies, and techniques to enhance our solutions.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be involved in all stages of the software development life cycle, including:

• Engineering software solutions, working with prototypes and proof of concepts, and developing fully functional applications
• Producing rich front-end user interfaces and efficient services using technologies like React and Angular

Location

This role can be based in our offices in Leeds LS1 2HL, Saltaire BD18 3LF, or Skipton BD23 3FD. We support agile working for greater flexibility.

Qualifications and Experience

Key competencies required:

It would be advantageous to have A-levels (or equivalent) in Mathematics and/or science-based subjects. A degree (or equivalent) in computing, engineering, or mathematics is desirable. The right candidate will be organized, self-motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, adaptable, and able to manage priorities independently. Good communication skills and teamwork are essential.

Core skills and experience:

• C# .NET web-based application development
• Knowledge of API development and third-party API integration
• Experience with Hangfire background services
• GIS technologies – QGIS, ArcGIS, FME
• Containers
• Cloud hosting using Amazon Web Services
• Understanding of Agile principles and methodologies
• Source control and process management

This role also involves mentoring and coaching less experienced developers and some line management responsibilities.
