Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Software Asset Management Analyst in the UK to own the software asset lifecycle, including licence validation, deployments, and renewals, while driving cost savings and governance. You will lead a SAM team, coordinate with Procurement, Security, and business partners, and maintain Flexera inventories.

You will liaise with stakeholders, analyse licence positions, and support audits, contract negotiations and renewals.

Responsibilities

• Manage full software asset lifecycle including requests, licence validation, deployments, consumption analysis, optimisation and renewals.
• Lead a specialised work group and act as escalation point for licence questions.
• Oversee allocation and prioritisation of SAM tickets; ensure timely resolution per SLAs.
• Analyse deployments and consumption to identify optimisation opportunities and cost savings.
• Provide SME on software applications and licensing for contracts and purchasing.
• Produce reports on licence positions and present findings to stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate entitlement and inventory in Flexera.
• Monitor software maintenance, subscriptions and support agreements.
• Manage catalogue and cost recovery for packaged software.
• Support procurement by performing goods receipting on software purchases.
• Assist publisher audits and verification exercises.
• Review SAM processes for updates and automation opportunities.
• Ensure 100% client satisfaction and adherence to best practices.
• Manage incidents/requests per defined SLAs.

Overview

The Senior Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst role is responsible for the management and optimisation of software assets throughout their lifecycle encompassing licence checks, maintenance, utilisation monitoring and ongoing governance of software applications. The role provides subject matter expertise on general software and drives continuous improvement, partnering closely with the Application Portfolio, Lifecycle and Delivery teams as well as Procurement, Security and Business Partners.

Your role

• Manage the full software asset lifecycle, including requests, licence validation/checks, deployments, consumption analysis, optimisation and renewals.
• Lead a specialised work group, distributing work activities and serving as the escalation point for Licence related questions and issues.
• Oversee the allocation and prioritisation of software asset management tickets across the team, proactively following up on progress, removing blockers, and ensuring timely resolution in line with service level agreements and team objectives.
• Analyse software deployments and consumption to identify optimisation opportunities and cost savings.
• Provide subject matter expertise on software applications and licensing to support contract negotiations and purchasing decisions.
• Produce reports on licence positions and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate software entitlement and inventory records in the Flexera licence management tool.
• Monitor software maintenance, subscriptions and support agreements.
• Manage catalogue and cost recovery processes for packaged software applications.
• Support procurement (and surrounding processes) by performing goods receipting on software purchases.
• Support software publisher audits and verification exercises.
• Review software asset management processes to ensure they are up-to-date, identifying opportunities to improve via control and automation.
• Ensure 100% customer satisfaction and client focus .
• Manage incidents and requests according to defined SLAs - ensure 100% adherence to Best Practice guidelines.

About you

Essential

• Experience of working within ITIL aligned Service Management organisation.
• Experience of working in a senior role in Software Asset Management.
• High level of proficiency and knowledge of IT Asset Management and enterprise procurement processes.
• An understanding of audits and policies.
• Experience of implementing process change.
• Experience with the Flexera licence management tool.
• Excellent analytical and communication (both verbal and written) skills.
• Proven experience of data analysis and good numeracy, analytical and reporting skills.
• Qualification in Software Asset Management.
• Working knowledge of Service Now.
• Supplier relationship experience.
• ITIL V4 Foundation Accreditation.
