Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience as a Children's Social Worker.

Solihull Council is looking to appoint 2 qualified Senior Social Workers (full-time) to join their Preparing for Adulthood, formerly known as the Transitions Team. This is an exciting time for Solihull Metropolitan Council, which aims to achieve positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families through early intervention and support.

Your role

As a Social Worker in Preparing for Adulthood, your main duties will include:

  • Completing Care Act Assessments in preparation for a young person's 18th birthday.
  • Developing support plans and reviews in line with the Care Act (2014).
  • Undertaking Mental Capacity Assessments per the Mental Capacity Act (2005).
  • Completing Continuing Health Care (CHC) checklists and attending Decision Support Tool (DST) meetings.
  • Leading safeguarding enquiries as an investigator.
  • Working in a strengths-based manner, creatively managing budgets and direct payments.

You will work within an established team with an experienced, permanent manager and will receive consistent monthly supervision. This role requires the use of a car.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years' post-qualification experience as a Children's Social Worker.
  • Holding a Social Work qualification such as BA Social Work, CQSW, DipSW, CCS, or CCETSW.
  • Preferably experience in a transition team.
  • Completion of ASYE.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Valid driver's license.
