Senior Social Worker - Learning Disability & Autism Team - Guildford

Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency, has a new permanent position available for a Senior Social Worker within the Learning Disabilities & Autism Team to work full time based in Surrey, Guildford.

The salary for this permanent Senior Social Worker job is up to £49,588 per annum.

Responsibilities:

  1. Take professional responsibility for managing a complex caseload which will include individuals, children, carers, and families who require support and guidance.
  2. Demonstrate confident and effective risk management and accountability in decision-making, sustaining engagement with fluctuating circumstances and capacities, including where appropriate, hostility and risk.
  3. Use assessment procedures discerningly in response to presenting needs, ensuring a proportionate assessment is completed to enable maximum participation.
  4. Employ professional judgement, utilizing a range of interventions: promoting independence, providing support and protection, taking preventative action, and ensuring safety while balancing rights and risks.
  5. Lead in managing positive interventions that prevent deterioration in health and wellbeing while safeguarding people at risk of abuse or neglect.
  6. Undertake assessment and planning for safeguarding in more complex cases and support colleagues by utilizing safeguarding skills in line with current policies and procedures.
  7. Play a leading role in practice development, promote and sustain a learning culture, and mentor less experienced staff.
  8. Deliver formal professional reflective supervision and provide guidance and advice regarding casework to less experienced qualified staff.
  9. Where required, take the role of practice educator (or train as a practice educator) for students and the role of ASYE assessor and supervisor for newly qualified social workers in the team.
  10. As part of the supervision and appraisal process, provide support with personal and professional development.
  11. Share and present professional knowledge and expertise to colleagues within the team and with other partners.
  12. Take professional and personal responsibility for clear recording of analysis and judgement, maintaining up-to-date casework records on the database as required by Surrey.
  13. Work within the Directorate's data protection policies.

Requirements:

  1. A social work qualification or equivalent.
  2. Understanding of relevant legislation.
  3. Social Work England registered.
