This is a time of significant change for the Social Work Service in Dumfries and Galloway. There are real opportunities to contribute to service delivery and development.
The ASP/MASH Team is a busy team comprising of 3 Senior Social Workers, 12 Social Workers/Council Officers, and 3 Social Work Assessment and Support Co-Ordinators, supported by a Team Manager and Social Work Manager. The team works closely with colleagues in Health and Police. You will be a qualified Social Worker with extended practice experience. Ideally, you will have experience of frontline management. You should have a recognised post-qualifying award or be working towards one.
You will be committed to developing the service and achieving the best outcomes for our service users in partnership with our colleagues. You should have an excellent knowledge of Adult Services legislation and an understanding of strategic and policy developments, as well as council policies and procedures across Adult Services. It is essential to have excellent communication skills, an understanding of business systems, and competence in computer use.
Good organisational and administrative skills are necessary, along with the ability to build and sustain professional relationships across partner agencies. You should be able to work effectively in a team. A clear understanding of the impact of disability on service users and their carers is required, as well as an understanding of the importance of advocacy services.
You should demonstrate high levels of self-motivation and initiative, professional integrity, and a commitment to teamwork. Creativity, flexibility, accountability, and a proactive approach are also important.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check before employment is formalized.
Applicants who have resided outside the UK in the last 5 years will need to provide a police record check from the relevant authorities in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check.
A current driving licence is essential for this role.
