We have exciting opportunities for Senior Social Workers to join the Community Team!

These are full-time, permanent roles with a salary of £45,831 - £50,414 per annum plus an annual retention bonus of £3,000, subject to eligibility.

Main duties of the job

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) is seeking Senior Social Workers to join the Community Team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in residents' lives while working in a high-performing, supportive environment.

The Role:

As a Senior Social Worker, you will provide statutory services to residents with care needs by conducting outcome-focused assessments, creating tailored care plans, and ensuring their effective implementation. You will manage a caseload of complex assessments, supervise and support team members, and promote professional development and high-quality service delivery.

You will work flexibly with management, lead key projects, chair meetings such as risk assessments and best interest decisions, focus on safeguarding adults at risk, meet performance targets, and operate within budgetary constraints, contributing to continuous improvement.

About the team:

The Community Team includes Social Care Practitioners, Senior Social Care Practitioners, Social Workers, all led by the Service Manager. Responsibilities include managing referrals, conducting assessments, arranging care, safeguarding, mental capacity assessments, and representing the Council in multi-disciplinary meetings.

Job description - Responsibilities
  1. Supervise all staff designated for supervision, including staff from other disciplines, agencies, and students as appropriate.
  2. Manage and be accountable for own practice and professional development.
  3. Ensure safeguarding processes are in place for vulnerable adults.
  4. Manage a caseload including complex assessments.
  5. Represent RBWM and make decisions in multi-agency settings.
  6. Understand budget management and work within financial constraints.
  7. Chair meetings such as Adult Safeguarding, Risk Frameworks, and others.
Person Specification - Qualifications
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle with business insurance.
  • A recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in adult social care, managing complex caseloads.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Data Protection Act 1998, and Human Rights Act 1998.
  • Extensive experience in adult safeguarding.
Desirable qualities
  • Strong leadership skills to support team members and students.
  • Confidence in representing RBWM in multi-agency settings.
  • Proactive and flexible in managing change and driving improvements.
