The team comprises a Manager, Deputy Manager, two Senior Social Workers (including this role), four Social Workers, and two Personal Advisors/Social Work Assistants supporting Care Leavers.

The salary range is £55,661 - £63,762, depending on experience.

Reporting to the Team Manager or Deputy, you will:

  1. Have specific responsibility for children and young people subject to interim care proceedings, care requirements, or in voluntary care of the statutory Social Work Services.
  2. Ensure the child's health, educational, social, and emotional needs are met through effective collaboration with parents, carers, colleagues, and other agencies, keeping the child central to all planning.

The island of Guernsey has a population of 65,000. It boasts some of Britain's finest beaches, a mild and sunny climate, and a historic harbour town in St. Peter's Port, the island's capital.

The States of Guernsey provides a diverse range of healthcare services. Their Social Work service offers an excellent Children and Families Service, supported by highly qualified Social Workers.

This includes work with children under care requirements in accordance with the Children (Guernsey and Alderney) Law 2008, which introduces significant changes to how concerns regarding children and young people are addressed, based broadly on the Children’s Hearing System in Scotland.

Person requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with current full UK statutory registration
  • At least three years of recent experience in Children & Families, including experience with Children in Care and Care Leavers
  • Experience in court work, including giving evidence
  • Possession of a current, clean driving license; own vehicle required (mileage reimbursed at full rate)

Benefits of working in Guernsey include:

  • A higher-than-UK salary
  • A flat income tax rate of 20%
  • No council tax or VAT
  • A relocation payment of £5,000*
  • A continental lifestyle with friendly people and low crime rates

*Full terms and conditions in the relocation directive.
