About Birmingham Children’s Trust

The Children's Advice and Support Services (CASS) is the front door to the largest children’s service department in the country. It plays a vital role in ensuring service excellence by providing specialized social work, making holistic threshold decisions using the Right Help Right Time threshold document, addressing safeguarding concerns promptly, and signposting support.

The environment is fast-paced, covering all of Birmingham, with over 4000 referrals processed each month, excluding phone inquiries. We operate core hours from 8.45 am to 5.15 pm Monday to Thursday, and 8.45 am to 4.15 pm on Fridays. Staff are required to work from the office three days a week, with the possibility of increasing to five days.

About You:

We seek dedicated and compassionate individuals committed to making a difference. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Social Work and completed your ASYE.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working with children and families in a social work setting.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.

Please note that the retention pay at CASS is £2,400 per annum.
