Job summary

Athona Ltd in Thatcham, Berkshire, is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a specialist forensic mental health service, supporting adults through recovery and rehabilitation.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, managing complex caseloads, leading safeguarding and capacity decisions, and coordinating with families and external agencies to help service users progress toward greater independence.

Qualifications

• A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
• Experience working within forensic mental health or a similar specialist environment.
• Strong knowledge of relevant mental health and social care legislation.
• Experience completing assessments, CPA documentation and tribunal-related reports.
• Excellent communication, safeguarding and multidisciplinary working skills.

Responsibilities

Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a specialist forensic mental health service, supporting adults through their recovery and rehabilitation journey.

Working as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will manage a caseload of service users with complex mental health needs, supporting them to develop new skills, achieve their goals and progress towards greater independence. You will also provide professional leadership around safeguarding, mental capacity and best-interest decision-making, while working closely with families, carers and external agencies.

Salary: £31,000 – £35,000 per annum

Your key responsibilities will be;
