Role description

We seek a Senior Social Worker to lead in delivering high-quality, person-centered social care within our Specialist Community Mental Health teams in North Manchester. The role involves supervising social workers, carrying out statutory duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), and supporting complex case management.

Main duties

• Support and supervise social workers and health colleagues.
• Maintain AMHP status, participate in duty systems and rota.
• Manage highly complex cases and act as a consultant for team managers and MDT.
• Provide training, mentorship, and support to students and newly qualified staff.
• Promote independence and well-being of service users, supporting social inclusion and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Registered Social Worker
• Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)

Experience

• Expertise in mental health legislation and social care assessments.
• Supervisory experience and ability to support complex casework.
• Legal and statutory knowledge, including Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act.
• Experience as an AMHP and in managing safeguarding and court reports.
• Ability to act as a practice educator and support professional development.
