We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Social Media Manager with a strong background in Formula 1 (F1) and motorsport to join our team. This role will be pivotal in shaping the social media presence for a Formula 1 racing team, ensuring that we build an innovative, culturally relevant, and highly engaging platform that resonates with global audiences. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of cutting-edge social strategies, working closely with creative teams, community managers, and content creators to deliver on the team's mission, to position them as a pioneer in motorsport.

This role will sit across VML’s LIVE and Social Media team as part of the core brand marketing team for the Formula 1 client. This role is based with VML and not directly a ‘Team Social

  • Leadthecreationandimplementationofthebrand’ssocialmediastrategyacrosskeychannels
  • Developplatform-specificstrategiestailoredtoaudiences,leveraginginsightsfromF1culture,trends,andinsights.
  • Collaboratewiththecreativeteamtoensureallcontentalignswiththebrand’sstrategyandcreativeplatform.
  • Drivealways-onsocialmediaactivity,includingrace-daycoverage,culturalmoments,andfanengagementinitiatives.
ContentCreation&Management
  • Overseetheideation,planning,andpublishingofhigh-quality,engaging,andinnovativecontent.
  • Workcloselywiththebrandandracingteamstoco-createcontentandbriefinginmaterialsbeyondsocialnativecontent.
  • Ensurecontentadherestothebrand’stoneofvoice.
CommunityEngagement
  • Fosteravibrantonlinecommunitybyengagingdirectlywithfans,respondingtocomments,andamplifyinguser-generatedcontent(UGC).
  • ChampiondiversityandinclusivitywithintheF1fanbase.
  • Buildrelationshipswithinfluencers,creators,andambassadorstoextendtheF1brand’sreachintobroaderculturalconversationsbasedonthebrand’spartnershipstrategy.
  • Leadmajorsocialactivations,manageteasercampaignsandmilestoneannouncements,ensuringtheygenerateexcitementandalignwiththebrand’soverarchingnarrative.
  • Collaboratewithpaidmediateamstoamplifyorganiccontentanddrivemeasurableresultsbasedonthesocialstrategy.
Data&PerformanceAnalysis
  • Monitorandanalysesocialmediaperformancemetrics,providingmonthlyreportsandactionableinsightstooptimisestrategy,contentandcommunity.
  • Collaboratewiththedataandinsightsteamtotrackkeymetricssuchassentiment,shareofvoice,andaudiencegrowthetc
  • StayaheadofF1industrytrends,socialplatformupdates,sociallandscapeandemergingtechnologiestokeepthebrandattheforefrontofinnovation.
  • Workcloselywithcross-functionalteams,includingcreative,production,analytics,widersocialteam,andmotorsportspecialists,todelivercohesiveandimpactfulcampaigns.
  • Responsibilityforjuniorteammember(s),whowillsupporttheSeniorSocialMediaManagerondaytodaytaskssuchascommunitymanagementandcontentcalendarwork.
  • Possibilityofcoordinatingwithglobalofficesandlocalmarketstoensureconsistencyandculturalrelevanceacrossregions.
Qualifications&Experience
  • 5+yearsofexperienceinsocialmediamanagement,withaproventrackrecordofsuccessinmotorsportorF1-relatedroles.
  • DeepunderstandingoftheFormula1ecosystem,includingfanculture,race-daydynamics,andkeystakeholders.
  • Strongexpertiseinplatform-specificstrategies,particularlyforInstagram,TikTok,YouTube,andemergingchannelslikeThreads.
  • Demonstratedabilitytoleadlarge-scalesocialcampaigns,fromconcepttoexecution,inafast-pacedenvironment.
  • Experiencemanagingreal-timecontentcreationduringliveevents,includingnightsandweekends.
  • Proficiencyinsocialmediatools(e.g.,Hootsuite,Sprinklr,Brandwatchetc)andfamiliaritywithAI-drivensolutionsforoptimisationandefficiencies.
  • Exceptionalwrittenandverbalcommunicationskills,withaflairforcraftingengagingcopyandcaptionsthatalignwiththeF1brandandaudience(s).
  • Apassionforstorytelling,creativity,andbuildingcommunities.
  • Abilitytocreateshortformsocialcontentusingnativeorthird-partytoolse.g.TikTok,CapCut,AdobePremierProetc
