A local government authority in Scotland is seeking a Senior Social Care Worker to deliver care in care homes for older adults. The role involves supporting staff and ensuring standards of personal and social care. Candidates must have experience with older people and hold an SVQ Level 3 in Social Care. Knowledge of dementia and council policies is advantageous. Shifts including weekends are required.
Senior Social Care Worker
Working as part of a team supporting care homes for older people, you will be responsible for the delivery of care to older adults, consistent with Social Work policies and procedures. This will involve supporting staff in assisting residents in all aspects of personal and social care in a way which respects their dignity as individuals and promotes their maximum independence.
You must have experience of working with older people and in supporting staff. You will possess excellent communication skills and have knowledge of person centred planning and the key worker role. You should be enthusiastic, motivated and respond positively to new challenges and have computer skills.
Specialist knowledge of conditions which affect older adults, such as dementia, would be an advantage and knowledge of council policies and procedures and current relevant legislation.
Possession of an SVQ Level 3 in Social Care, or equivalent, is essential as well as the potential to achieve SVQ Level 4 (2 units) in order to meet SSSC registration requirement. You must be able to work shifts, including weekends, on a rota basis.
You are required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council or achieve registration within 6 months of taking up employment.
