Job summary

Choice Care Group in Maidenhead is seeking a Senior Social Care Worker to lead a team of care staff in a residential home for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs, ensuring the highest standard of care and serving as a role model for colleagues.

The role involves 48 hours per week of shift work including weekends on a rota, with flexible patterns available to fit personal commitments, and opportunities to advance through the organisation’s training pathways.

Responsibilities

• Taking the lead with supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs in a residential care environment
• Supervising a team and assisting with the overall management of the home
• Liaising with managers and other shift leaders
• Executing any tasks allocated in a professional, timely and accurate manner
• Supervising and sharing mealtimes with residents to encourage a positive attitude towards food and dining
• Assisting residents in their daily activities whether this be in or away from the home
• Using your initiative when supporting residents during their activities and with day-to-day tasks

Salary: £13.40 to £13.60 Hour (A higher range is offered to applicants with level 3 qualifications in health and social care)

Overview Of The Role

The role of the Senior Social Care Worker is to provide support and guidance to a team of social care workers, whilst making sure you always provide the highest level of care and lead by example. You will also liaise with the seniors in the home reporting any matters of concern. You must have experience in the care sector and have the willingness to learn and expand on your previous knowledge. Not only will you make a huge difference to people’s lives, but you’ll be able to enjoy days out, trips away and join in with many more activities, all of which ensures the people we work with are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives.

Where will you work?

Bramerton, in Bray, near Maidenhead, is a large, detached house supporting up to 11 male residents of varying ages, with moderate to severe learning disabilities and associated complex needs. The property is set in extensive gardens with a greenhouse and vegetable patch, tended by the residents, as well as a small summer house. Bramerton has its own Day Activity Coordinator, who develops personalised programmes to support education and life skills, providing a range of engaging and meaningful activities, tailored to individual capabilities. There is a dedicated day services building adjacent to the main house, which provides a base for activities including IT and computing, arts and crafts. The home has transport for regular trips to the cinema, the theatre, bowling, meals out and the nearby Legoland theme park.
