A local government organization in Scotland is seeking motivated individuals for a full-time role in their Children's and Families service. The position involves creating a safe environment for young people, managing care staff, and ensuring the well-being of children. Experience with care planning is essential, as well as a minimum qualification of HNC/SVQ level 3 in Social Care. This role includes working shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
As part of the Children and Families service, you will be based at Millview Cottage and work full-time, 37 hours per week.

You will have a minimum HNC/SVQ level 3 in Social Care, SVQ 4, or the ability to undertake this within registration timescales.
You will contribute to creating and maintaining a high-quality care environment where children and young people are assured of safety and security, and are supported to grow and develop. You will promote the rights of children and young people to access services and information, as appropriate, and enable effective communication with and for them.
You will have experience and understanding of working collaboratively with children, young people, and their families and carers. You should have experience in care planning, assessments, reviews for young people, residential care, and report writing.
We are looking for motivated individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of young people accommodated by Dundee City Council and who are committed to high standards of care.
You will be part of the management team within the young people's houses and will supervise and support care staff. While experience in supervising and managing staff is desirable, it is not essential. You should have experience working effectively in a team.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. You should be able to undertake CALM procedures and moving and handling procedures. You must be motivated, confident in decision-making, and self-reliant.
You should have knowledge of the needs of young people and an understanding of their emotional, practical, and social care needs.
This role requires working a three-shift system (early, late, and night shifts) and working evenings and up to 31 weekends per year.
You must be able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timescale.
This position is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check before a formal offer of employment is made by Dundee City Council.
