Job description

Our client is currently seeking a Senior Site Supervisor to join their team on a permanent basis. Reporting directly to the Construction Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of planned, reactive, and emergency works, coordinating high-level major and minor projects, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with NEC contracts. This role will also require night and weekend working, engagement with the supply chain and design team, and providing mentorship and guidance to team members.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure programmes are delivered to key milestones across the contract
  2. Provide design guidance to other teams
  3. Monitor delivery to ensure work is carried out in accordance with business policies and procedures
  4. Self-manage priorities and workload across the Borough
  5. Produce daily site supervision reports
  6. Communicate daily with Technical Support staff
  7. Stand in for the Construction Team Leader as required
  8. Review design drawings for buildability and engage in early contract involvement with the supply chain and design team

General Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise both self-delivery and supply chain partner (SCP) gangs to ensure works are carried out safely and to the highest standard
  2. Deliver daily briefings (5-minute brief) to operatives
  3. Monitor the performance and productivity of all gangs, identifying areas for improvement and acting where required
  4. Ensure works are delivered within required timescales and completed right the first time
  5. Conduct walk, talk, and build for programmed works, identifying risks to ensure safe and efficient delivery
  6. Deliver regular Toolbox Talks and site inductions to all gangs, maintaining records to ensure awareness of health and safety policies
  7. Provide immediate response and instruction where imminent and significant dangers are identified
  8. Conduct regular quality audits to ensure works are completed to the required quality standard

Job Requirements:
  1. Thorough working knowledge of health and safety legislation and codes of practice
  2. Experience in managing major and minor projects
  3. Knowledge of NEC contracts and budgeting and change management
  4. Background in civil engineering or resurfacing
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office packages
  6. Good verbal and written communication skills
  7. Ability to use initiative and self-motivation to work under pressure with minimal direction
  8. Understanding of MCHW and DMRB
  9. Knowledge of highway legislation, relevant design procedures, standards, and good practice
  10. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with operatives both internally and externally
