Job summary

Nicholas Associates is seeking a senior on-site engineer in Derby to oversee engineering activities and manage Junior Engineers.

You will set out for roads, sewers, drainage and foundations, mentor site staff, coordinate with Site Managers and subcontractors, and ensure works are delivered in line with design drawings and specifications while supporting programme delivery and resolving on-site technical issues.

Qualifications

• Leica machine control experience and creating models on-site.
• Geo-technical knowledge, including CBR concepts.
• Decent residential experience (plots, earthworks, roads & sewers, 278 works).
• Proficient in CAD software, preferably AutoCAD 3D Civil.
• Senior requires setting out, with a junior engineer support available.

The Role

You will take a senior position on site, responsible for overseeing engineering activities, managing Junior Engineers.

• Setting out for roads, sewers, drainage, and foundations
• Overseeing and mentoring Site Engineers and Junior Engineers
• Managing QA processes, including inspections and documentation on Roads & Sewers
• Coordinating with Site Managers and subcontractors
• Ensuring works are delivered in line with design drawings and specifications
• Supporting programme delivery and resolving technical issues on site

Position fundamentals

• Leica machine control experience and creating models (not earthworks models but helpful if they can)
• Geo-technical experience, not expecting them to know all, but understands CBRs etc
• Decent residential experience (Plots/Earthworks/Roads & Sewers/278 works)
• Proficient in cad software (AutoCAD 3d civil preferred but not a deal breaker if other)
• The roles will require the senior to set out, but each role comes with a decent junior engineer that can also set out, this allows the senior to look at the technical stuff.
