Job summary

Murphy is seeking a Senior Site Engineer to join the Energy Team on the ETP Project in Cardiff. The role involves leading health, safety and environmental practices and supporting temporary works design within a major EPC context.

You will maintain client relations, advise on setting out methods, verify drawings and specs, and manage materials, risk assessments and ITP compliance. A strong civil engineering background and excellent HSE knowledge are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in Construction or Civil Engineering projects.
• Experience within ITPs, RAMs & Temporary Works.
• Excellent knowledge of civil engineering legislation and Health & Safety / Environmental legislation.
• Ability to discuss engineering issues with people across levels and disciplines.
• Ability to produce, implement and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures.

• Assist with temporary works design schemes.
• Maintain good working relations with client/designer/Team and supply chain.
• Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
• Ensure drawings and specifications contain sufficient information for construction.

• Oversee selection of materials and plant for construction.
• Prepare risk assessments and method statements for works control.
• Keep daily site diary with changes, subcontractors and discussions.
• Ensure inspection and test plans are completed per PMP/Specification.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Site Engineer:

• Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
• Assist with temporary works design schemes
• Maintain good working relations with client / designer / Team, together with our supply chain.
• Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
• Ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works. Formally request any missing information in sufficient time to allow theprogramme to proceed without delay.
• Communicate with foremen and supervisors to ensure full understanding of information provided.
• Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant for the use in the construction process.
• Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works.
• Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes/variations, subcontractors’ attendance, and records of work related discussions with client / designer / project team.
• Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the PMP / Specification, including a check of dimension accuracy and quality
