A leading healthcare provider in the UK is seeking an experienced Emergency Care Nurse to take charge of the department and deliver high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical and leadership skills, ensuring effective nursing practices and a positive experience for patients and their families. This role includes training and managing staff, along with promoting evidence-based practices within a dynamic healthcare environment.
The Emergency Department has a co-located Paediatrics Unit, Minor Injuries, Emergency Ambulatory Care Unit, and an exciting new Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). We also have an Urgent Care Centre at Halton.
The post holder should possess excellent clinical skills in the field of emergency care. They must be passionate about leading by example by demonstrating consistently high standards that are required for the care of our patients. You must also be driven to pass your knowledge and experience on to colleagues of all disciplines. Effective communication skills are essential in addition to proven mentorship and leadership skills.
As a registered, accountable, and autonomous leader you will always act in the best interests of patients and take responsibility for own actions and decisions. Be responsible for planning, delivering, and supervising safe and compassionate care, and evaluating the effectiveness of care, without supervision.
You will be required to be transparent and passionate about emergency nursing whilst assisting and promoting the delivery of evidence-based patient focused care. To assist the Ward/Department Manager in creating and maintaining an environment in which members of the department team can contribute to the maximum of their ability in providing a high standard of care, staff welfare and staff training.
Designated to take charge of the ward/department regularly in the absence of the Ward/Department Manager. The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, and for the development and implementation of programmes of care without supervision.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programs of evidence-based nursing care. Provide management and organisation of a clinical area. Participate in the education, development and line management of other staff members. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Participate in improvement of services and the quality of care provision. Perform comprehensive assessment of patient nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health care needs and varying levels of complexity.
Collect, collate, evaluate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records. Involve patients and carers / relatives in the planning and delivery of care. Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements.
Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers / relatives. Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations. Senior nurse in the management and organisation of the department.
