Job description
Overview

Are you a dynamic, enthusiastic individual who can work well within a team and individually, with a desire for learning, personal development and supporting the continued development of our Urgent and Emergency Care services? You thrive on delivering excellent patient care and experience and could help drive the future aspirations of the department as a member of our team.

Main duties of the job

As an organisational and emergency department, we are advertising a number of clinical and non-clinical roles as part of our ongoing new build and development of the urgent and emergency care services. We are currently in the final weeks of the £30 million investment and development of a brand new purpose built Emergency Department, which comprises an 8 bedded resus area, Rapid Assessment Triage and ambulance handover area, 35 clinical rooms including a paediatric area, 2 triage rooms and a dedicated area with 6 clinical rooms for the Urgent Care Service. The new build will provide the right environment to see and treat patients attending with an emergency or urgent complaint ensuring they are seen in the right place, by the right person whilst maintaining national emergency care standards.

The department has seen significant investment in staff facilities including a large staff rest area and changing facilities. It offers an extensive career development pathway and significant investment to support the continued training and education of the ED/UCS team linked to each individual role, including RCN Level 1&2 competencies, NMTNG level 1&2, TILS, TNCC, EPALS, ALS, IRMER and access to educational courses and a comprehensive development and competency pathways for autonomous practitioners.

There has been a comprehensive staffing review of the establishment to align with recommended RCN safe staffing numbers, supporting quality and safe nursing care to all our patients.

About the Trust and Partnership

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion. Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve. Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH. As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.

Flexible working and equality

As a Trust we are keen to offer and encourage flexible working opportunities to address health and wellbeing and work-life balance for our employees. Flexible working is part of a wider commitment to improve the quality and experience of working life and is a key contributor for recruitment and retention. We support open conversations around a specific working pattern to suit work-life balance or a multi-role career, and will strive to accommodate it where possible, in collaboration with the line manager. Local flexible working arrangements are developed in partnership to ensure equality of access.

We are committed to a fair and supportive working environment where contributions are recognised and valued, and staff feel empowered to carry out their duties. We are committed to promoting and protecting the physical and mental health and wellbeing of all staff, underpinning our NHS Constitution values and supporting us to be an Employer of Choice.

We value diverse perspectives and ideas to deliver better outcomes for our patients. We welcome applications irrespective of age, disability, sex, gender identity and expression, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances.
