Main duties of the job

Applicantsshould have extensive post registration experience, significant experiencewithin a leadership role, including the management and leadership of a team,and substantial renal disease management experience. They will haveknowledge, and recent practice, of the care of adults with both end stage andacute renal failure, including the ability to perform and teachhaemodialysis. Possession of a recognised teaching/assessing qualification isessential, while a non-medical prescriber qualification (or willingness tocomplete within 6 months), relevant degree and post-registration renalqualification are all desirable. We offer an individualised, in-service,induction programme supported by the Renal Unit Clinical Education Team. TheLeeds Renal Services lies within the Abdominal Medicine Surgery (AMS)Clinical Service unit at Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust. The renal servicereceives referrals for adults for the management and treatment of disordersof the kidney. The spectrum of disease ranges from mild disorders to lifethreatening conditions. All the renal consultants see patients with generalnephrological problems and, in addition, have their own special interests.The main renal unit is at St James's University Hospital, where inpatient,outpatient, pre-dialysis, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis andtransplantation services are provided. Nurse-led outpatient clinics also takeplace at St James's. The sub-regional kidney transplant service for West,East and North Yorkshire is located at St James's University Hospital. Clinical

-Work with Matron to lead the development of ward/department nursing practice,reflecting the CMT and Corporate Nursing business plans.

-Provide a clinical lead and role model to the nursing team by deliveringhigh-quality care as an expert practitioner.
