We have expanded our department and are seeking passionate, dedicated, and caring experienced emergency care nurses to join our team who share our vision for excellence. Experience of shift leading and managing patient flow is essential, as is the ability to dynamically stream patients to the appropriate caregiver. You must be forward-thinking and committed to the evolving needs of the department, proactively working to improve the experience of the public accessing our emergency services daily.

As a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will ensure the delivery of safe, effective, high-quality care 24/7. You will lead clinical duties, explore safe service provision through skill-mix review and workload allocation, and collaborate with senior staff including the associate director of nursing, head of nursing, matrons, clinical service groups, other wards, and wider healthcare services.
You will support staff development, create a learning environment, and continuously enhance your own knowledge and skills to uphold clinical standards. The department is one of the busiest in the country, assessing and treating over 100,000 patients annually, with specialized areas including resuscitation, majors, rapid assessment and treatment, streaming, and respiratory care. It is supported by a large Urgent Treatment Centre, including a GP stream and Minor Injury Unit.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust provides a broad range of services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop's Stortford, and St Margaret's Hospital in Epping. We employ 3,500 staff serving a population of around 350,000 in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, with an extended catchment area of up to 500,000 including Hoddesdon, Cheshunt, and Broxbourne.

The salary range is £46,148 to £52,809 per annum plus a 5% high-cost area supplement.
