This role in a nutshell:

Using your energy trading expertise, you will lead the development of our new within-day trading desk to optimize OVO’s power activities and deliver P&L growth. You will leverage your UK Power markets knowledge and work with tech and data science teams to build analytical tools for trading decisions.

Expect to hit significant P&L targets by optimizing large power positions and taking calculated risks to generate value.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Delivery of a new within-day power trading capability
  • Achieving a defined £m benefit versus costs and targets
  • Developing team members to support your portfolio

Within your first months, you will:

  • Set up initial EPEX trading and execute first trades
  • Work with portfolio management to deliver a trading book and reporting suite
  • Plan to build advanced analytical tools

  • Have proven UK Power market trading experience
  • Understand global energy trends and wholesale markets
  • Have a history of adding value through trading and optimization
  • Work well across teams and deliver projects

  • Interrogate model outputs and provide feedback
  • Communicate recommendations clearly and act swiftly
  • Support and develop fellow traders and analysts
