Job summary

Viridor Energy Ltd seeks a Shift Team Leader for the Croydon ERF to lead a 24-hour, 12-hour shift pattern (days/nights) and ensure safe, efficient operation. You will guide Shift Operator Technicians and Auxiliary Plant Operators, drive KPI performance and uphold safety standards.

Experience in process/power environments, knowledge of Safe Systems of Work and CMMS is essential. This role offers a competitive salary and bonus potential with strong career development.

Qualifications

• Experience in process or power plant environment.
• Experience with Safe Systems of Work and Permits to Work.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements in process/power generation.
• Experience with maintenance management systems.
• Strong IT skills and confidence with computer-based systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead briefings and shift handovers.
• Ability to produce clear operational reports.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead a team in a 24-hour plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and direct Shift Operator Technicians and Auxiliary Plant Operators to maximise plant performance against KPIs.
• Support efficient operation and maintenance of the ERF to maximise waste throughput and energy output.
• Take responsibility for Safe System of Work as SAP, including management of Permits to Work and safety documentation.
• Ensure plant activities comply with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Complete and review risk assessments for safe work.
• Supervise contractors on site and induct visitors/contractors.
• Ensure compliance with Environmental Permit requirements.
• Monitor plant performance and report defects via CMMS.
• Lead incident reporting and investigations as required.
• Act as Incident Controller during emergencies and emergency plan testing.
• Carry out routine testing of site emergency, safety and environmental procedures.
• Coordinate shift cover and weekend shift coverage as needed.
• Lead team meetings and shift handovers for strong communication.
• Support team development through feedback and performance reviews.
