Job summary

Sanderson Government and Defence is seeking a Senior Service Designer to lead service design workstreams from discovery to delivery for large-scale public sector programmes. You will own the design approach, outputs and outcomes, ensuring user-centred solutions aligned to client objectives.

You will work autonomously within multidisciplinary teams, mentoring others and contributing to business development while staying current with industry trends and new technologies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience designing services and products.
• Proven experience leading service design workstreams across multiple projects or clients with minimal supervision.
• Strong expertise in Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and principles.
• Experience tailoring methods and artefacts to client needs and maturity.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end service design activities from ideation through to solution development and testing.
• Define and tailor service design approaches to client needs and maturity levels.
• Develop and oversee high-quality service design artefacts with impact.
• Apply GDS standards, accessibility and inclusive design to service assessments.
• Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement.
• Communicate complex ideas through storytelling and visuals.
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to business development.
• Identify priorities, risks and delivery requirements.
