Job description

Job Title: Senior Service Designer at Barclays UK

Join to apply for the Senior Service Designer role at Barclays UK.

Location: Glasgow or Northampton (3 days onsite, Tuesday-Wednesday-Friday)

Length: 6 months

Pay: PAYE only

Overall Purpose of the Role

At Barclays, we're transforming the way our colleagues experience work — and we’re looking for a hands-on Service Designer to help lead this transformation. This role involves shaping and improving end-to-end colleague journeys, from onboarding to growth and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and own end-to-end journey maps, providing clear insights into user experience, process pain points, and backlog priorities.
  • Lead and facilitate engaging digital workshops (typically 5–8 participants), developing future-state journey maps with stakeholders.
  • Use FIGMA to visually articulate journeys, flows, and prototypes.
  • Apply methodologies such as user interviews, persona creation, observational research, and data-driven insights.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams, product owners, and transformation leads, contributing to backlog development and user-centered design.
  • Operate as part of an in-house transformation team, actively participating in delivery rather than just advising.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven hands-on service designer with experience in transformation initiatives and service delivery influence.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity, with expertise in process improvement and journey visualization based on research-backed insights.
  • Strong visual design skills, especially with FIGMA (or similar tools like Adobe Illustrator, Miro, MS Whiteboard) for flows, blueprints, or prototypes.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops, including stakeholder management and session moderation, both digitally and in person.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working with Workday (WD) in HR/colleague experience transformation is preferred.
  • Experience in financial services industry is desirable.
  • Certifications such as LUMA or Human-Centered Design are a plus.
