Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Wigan, supporting both primary and secondary pupils with a range of additional needs.

You will deliver 1:1 and small-group support, assist with personal care, and help pupils access learning in a safe, inclusive environment. A Level 2/3 qualification and an Enhanced DBS are desirable. The role is full-time, term-time only, with excellent professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in a school or specialist setting.
• Desirable: Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or related.
• Enhanced DBS check, including the children's barred list, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with needs including autism, ADHD and learning disabilities.
• Support learning through adapted activities and EHCP targets.
• Assist with personal care while maintaining dignity, privacy and independence.
• Encourage communication, social skills and everyday independence.
• Monitor pupil progress and report concerns to appropriate staff.
