Qualifications

About the Opportunity

Amentum is recruiting a Senior Seismic Civil & Structural Engineer to join our Energy sector, supporting UK nuclear fleet transformation and new small modular reactor developers. Our work covers Licensing, New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Decommissioning, with high demand across the nuclear sector.

Your Role

You will manage and deliver civil engineering analysis and design solutions, working with Operations and Engineering Managers to maximize project value. Your strong people skills will be crucial for building relationships with stakeholders across locations, supporting activities that serve the client best, and delivering innovative solutions.

This role offers opportunities for skill and career growth and can be based at one of our Energy offices (Newcastle, Warrington, Gloucester, Bristol, or Knutsford). Flexible working arrangements are welcomed.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Owning technical challenges, developing strategies, and engaging stakeholders
  2. Delivering analysis and design solutions
  3. Producing and reviewing design deliverables
  4. Collaborating with international SMR developers for UK nuclear regulation approval
  5. Reviewing and justifying design decisions to the ONR
  6. Fulfilling CDM responsibilities

Qualifications

  • MEng, MSc, BEng, or BSc in Civil Engineering or relevant field
  • Chartered with ICE or IStructE, or working towards Chartership
  • Experience in civil engineering design/construction, preferably with American codes
  • Expertise in SASSI, SHAKE, LS-DYNA, concrete and steel design (AISC, ACI), seismic analysis (ASCE standards), and BIM tools
  • Experience with heavy infrastructure projects, nuclear or regulated industries
  • Knowledge of UK Nuclear Regulatory processes is desirable
