Job description

Role: Senior Scrub Theatre Practitioner / Spinal and Neurology
Location: The Wellington Hospital
Hours: Permanent, Full time 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: 4 or 5 days a week, Occasional Saturdays
Salary: Competitive + allowances + Golden Hello

We are seeking a Senior Theatre Practitioner with experience in Spinal and Neuro complex cases to join our Theatre department at The Wellington Hospital, rated “Good” by the CQC. Our theatres provide a vibrant, professional environment equipped with advanced technology.

The Wellington Hospital offers high-level care in areas such as neurosurgery, spinal surgery, cardiac care, orthopaedics, neurological rehabilitation, gynaecology, and cancer care. With 13 theatres across 3 buildings, we support a large team of experienced professionals. We are committed to career development, offering support and courses including a Surgical First Assistant Course.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing high-quality care for patients undergoing surgical procedures, including Spinal/Neuro cases.
  2. Managing theatre lists and preparing theatres.
  3. Maintaining sterile fields, assisting surgical teams, and ensuring patient safety perioperatively.
  4. Collaborating with team members to promote cohesion and achieve objectives.
  5. Ensuring safety for patients and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner
  • HCPC Registration or NMC Pin
  • Current experience as a Senior Scrub Theatre Practitioner in Spinal and Neuro cases
  • Experience with complex spinal procedures such as ALIF, TLIF, XLIF, intradural lesions, craniotomies
  • Additional experience in Orthopaedics and General Surgery is desirable
  • Team player with confidence in setting up theatres and running lists
