Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Deputy Team Leader for scrub nurse/ODP at the John Radcliffe Theatre Department, a 6 theatre unit delivering general, gynae and spinal surgery for adults. The role sits in a tertiary centre for vascular surgery and trauma.

You will lead the theatre team, participate in audits and clinical governance, implement LocSSIPs and SOPs, and drive improvements in patient care within a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or ODP with HCPC/NMC registration.
• Minimum of 3 years acute care registered nurse/ODP experience.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and mentorship qualification.
• Able to supervise non-registered staff and ensure care delivery.
• UK registration is required for practice in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Develop the ability to work effectively at a more senior level.
• Guide the theatre team to deliver high quality care to patients.
• Develop negotiating and motivational skills.
• Participate in staff development, appraisal and auditing processes.
• Analyse audits, incident reports and risk, taking corrective action.
• Support LocSSIPs, Policies and SOP implementation.
• Contribute to quality priorities and change management.
• Act as role model for professional values and leadership.
• Lead as shift coordinator and manage resources.
