Job focus

The successful candidate will have apassion for synthetic organic chemistry and a desire to join ourhighly innovative High-Throughput Experimentation (HTE) group, playinga pivotal role in advancing research and development. As a key memberof the team, you will be responsible for designing and developingefficient routes and processes for the large-scale manufacture ofsmall molecules, including complex Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients(APIs), for the pharmaceutical and other industries. Usingstate-of-the-art technologies and robotics, you will contribute to thedevelopment of novel synthetic methodologies, from organometallicchemistry to biocatalysis. With your expertise in organic chemistryand a strong understanding of the contemporary literature, you willplay a crucial role in driving our projects forward and making ameaningful impact on patients' lives.

Roles &responsibilities may include

  • Deliver innovativesolutions to chemical challenges utilising state-of-the-art automatedtechnologies to execute and analyse high-throughput reaction screens.
  • Utilise statistics, machine learning and data visualisationapproaches to gain compelling insights into chemical reactions andprocesses.
  • Become an industry recognised subject matterexpert in HTE, whilst gaining valuable experience in deliveringscientific excellent through others.
  • Apply a continuousimprovement mindset to identify opportunities for improved workprocesses to deliver increased productivity, value and quality.
  • Continue to develop professionally in a range of technicalareas and transferrable skills, by utilising the experience andsupport of our highly skilled team.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • APh.D. in Chemistry is required. While a background in related areassuch as laboratory automation, High-Throughput Experimentation, ororganometallic chemistry is desirable, it is not essential. We value astrong foundation in organic chemistry and a willingness to learn.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary literature and organicchemistry, including synthetic reagents, methodologies, reactionmechanisms, reaction work-up, and isolations.
  • A passion forcontinuous learning and improvement, with a strong ability to acquirenew skills and apply them effectively.
  • Creative andanalytical problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to applyknowledge to new challenges and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fosteringeffective teamwork and collaboration, are essential. Experience inoverseeing scientific projects and providing colleague mentorship ishighly desirable.
