Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and highly skilled Imaging expert to contribute to Abcam’s Immunocytochemistry Portfolio expansion. The successful candidate will report to the Immunocytochemistry and Flow Cytometry Team Leader within the Characterisation Team and be passionate about validating antibodies to the highest standard.

The Characterisation Team is part of the Antibody Validation and Characterization Group, holding a key function in validating and characterizing new antibodies and new batches of existing products to ensure functionality for our customers.

We are looking for an expert in Immunocytochemistry with a proven track record of delivering projects with impressive results, as well as the ability to teach and mentor others, along with line management responsibility. You will collaborate with other labs worldwide on new product development and method standardization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring high-quality validation of new antibodies in imaging applications.
  • Performing imaging using various instruments, including confocal microscopy or High-Content Analyzers (HCA).
  • Streamlining current processes with a focus on continuous improvement, proactively approaching new methods and technologies.
  • Communicating with stakeholders, team leaders, and colleagues, providing delivery dates, updates, and documentation.
  • Maintaining high standards within the lab; ensuring compliance with all external and internal quality standards, including ISO9001.
  • Line managing and mentoring junior colleagues, creating an engaging and developmental environment.

Qualifications

You hold a PhD or can demonstrate equivalent expertise with experience in industry or academia. You have a strong scientific background and experience in antibody validation. You have extensive experience using confocal microscopy or High Content Analyzers.

Ideally, you also have experience in automated image analysis and quantification (ICC/IHC) using AI tools, and experience in culturing primary mammalian cells (human/mouse).
