Job Purpose:

Develop, optimise, and troubleshoot different bioanalytical and biomarker assays associated with the conduct of clinical trials, ensuring scientific objectives and timelines are met and providing leadership to junior team members. Provide advisory expertise surrounding fee-for-service analyses of biological samples (e.g. blood, saliva, stool, urine, bacteria, etc), as well as participate in analyses when required. Provide training on internal processes and procedures, as well as equipment, as well as be proactively involved in the maintenance and streamlining of internal processes and procedures. Provide guidance on appropriate validation parameters, based on latest regulatory requirements and white papers.

Main Responsibilities:

Laboratory & Scientific Duties

  • Assumes the responsibility of Scientific Advisor (SA) on projects and ensures scientific continuity between the different studies within one project.
  • Acts as the Synexa-defined Analytical Project Manager (APM).
  • Can assume the responsibility of Responsible Scientist (RS) or Study Lead (SL) when necessary.
  • Oversee the work of others (Research Associates/Scientists) - assists in capacity and reagent planning and inventory as needed.
  • Assists in the development and validation of bioanalytical tests to meet the company or client's needs as per SOPs, latest regulatory guidelines and white papers.
  • Assists where needed on clinical sample analysis.
  • Assist with revision of data generated, in terms of scientific rationale applied, and interpretation and communication of said data with clients.
  • Assists in preparing guidance and reporting documents for projects (Lab Manual, VPP, MDP, SAP, SAR etc).
  • Troubleshooting when required: doing literature research and sharing solutions.
  • Regular sharing of knowledge and providing input on training.
  • Scientific mentorship of more junior staff.
  • Odoo planning accurately and efficiently to allow for capacity management and revenue prediction.
  • Involvement in pre- and post-contracted phase (e.g., reagent plans, quote review, protocols, out-of-scope work, etc).
  • Contributes to keeping up to date with relevant regulatory guidelines and literature.

Ad-hoc

  • Write and/or review SOPs and Forms.
  • Increased involvement in the chasing of revenue and reaching monthly targets.
  • Direct communication with clients.
  • Assess systems being used and identify areas for improvement.
  • Acts as Equipment Custodian for selected instruments, identifies issues and troubleshoots where needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Applicable education.
  • Good knowledge of GLP.
  • Knowledge of GCP and GMP.
  • Knowledge of laboratory SOPs, working methods and laboratory functions in general.
  • Knowledge of bioanalytical methods and computerized systems.
  • Persistent and independent way of working.
  • Ability to work in project teams.
  • Adequate knowledge of written English.
