Salary from £60,000 plus bonus and car allowance

Join Mars as Senior Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Associate – Contaminants & Packaging. In this role, you'll perform regulatory activities related to raw materials, finished products, packaging, PREMIA, and regulatory database management to ensure compliance with food contact materials and food chemicals legislation (including FCM, REACH, contaminants, pesticides).

You will proactively identify regulatory issues, take action to address them, and support a positive scientific and regulatory environment aligned with business goals. You will also work on innovation and external projects to resolve regulatory issues affecting products across the region (e.g., Codex Alimentarius).

What are we looking for?
Education & Professional Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical area (nutrition, food science, biology, chemistry, pharmacology, or related)
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a similar or related field, including food law
Knowledge/Experience:
  • Extensive experience in scientific/regulatory compliance or related technical areas involving food products or related categories (food supplements, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, natural health products), with proficiency in food contact material and chemicals law for Europe and UK
  • Experience managing large-scale regulatory projects and working cross-functionally within organizations
  • Experience collaborating with trade associations and government agencies on regulatory matters
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and advise on scientific and regulatory activities related to food contact materials and chemicals in the region
  • Assess regulatory status of materials and ensure standards meet legal requirements for marketability
  • Develop and implement strategies to influence and shape regulatory policies
  • Represent Mars in trade, industry, and scientific associations
  • Build networks and partnerships to support business and regulatory compliance
  • Lead complex regulatory projects with regional and global impact
