Job Title: Senior Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Associate – Contaminants & Packaging, Slough

Location: Slough, United Kingdom

Salary: From £60,000 plus bonus and car allowance

Work Arrangement: Hybrid in Slough

Job Description:

Join Mars as a Senior Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Associate – Contaminants & Packaging. You will handle regulatory activities related to raw materials, finished products, packaging, PREMIA, and manage regulatory databases to ensure compliance with food contact materials and chemicals legislation (including FCM, REACH, contaminants, pesticides). Your role involves proactively identifying regulatory issues, supporting scientific and regulatory environment, and working on external projects like Codex Alimentarius to resolve regulatory challenges impacting our products across the region.

What are we looking for?
Education & Professional Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, food science, biology, chemistry, pharmacology, or related field
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a similar or food law
Knowledge/Experience:
  • Extensive experience in scientific/regulatory compliance related to food products, with proficiency in European and UK food contact laws
  • Experience managing large-scale regulatory projects and cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience working with trade associations and government agencies
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and advise on scientific and regulatory activities in food contact materials and chemicals
  • Determine regulatory status of materials and ensure compliance for market readiness
  • Develop and implement strategies to influence regulatory environment
  • Represent Mars in industry associations and build networks
  • Lead strategic SRA projects with regional/global scope
