Job description

Interaction Education are pleased to currently be working with a great school in Wandsworth in their search for a Senior level science technician to work for them on a long term, temporary contract.

The role pays around £16 per hour and is a full time position Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation, maintenance, and safe storage of equipment and materials for science lessons.
  • Lead and manage a team of technicians, including task delegation and performance support.
  • Support teaching staff in planning and delivering engaging practical lessons.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH and risk assessments.
  • Manage the science department's inventory, ordering and stock control.
  • Maintain and repair equipment as needed, or liaise with external suppliers.
  • Contribute to curriculum enrichment activities, including STEM events and science clubs.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • A Level or equivalent in a science subject.
    • Significant experience working in a school science department or laboratory setting.
    • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety practices and procedures.
    • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Desirable:
    • Degree in a science discipline.
    • Experience managing or supervising staff.
    • Familiarity with school science curriculum (KS3-KS5).
