Job summary

The Head Cook role at Brae High School in Brae, Shetland, is responsible for all activities in a large kitchen and its surrounds required to provide a catering service to the school. You will plan menus, ensure nutrition standards, prepare meals, manage budgets, supervise staff and maintain hygiene and safety in the kitchen.

Qualifications

• Experience in large-scale catering and school meals is desirable.
• Familiarity with nutrition standards and menu planning.
• Ability to supervise staff and manage duties and rotas.

Responsibilities

• Cook the full range of meals and provide meals on wheels if required.
• Plan menus, monitor budgets, and control portions and stock.
• Ensure food safety, hygiene, and safety compliance in the kitchen.
• Supervise and train staff, and liaise with teachers and health professionals.
