Job summary

Penguin Random House is seeking an experienced SAP Basis Lead to join our Technology team in London. You will oversee the SAP technical landscape, lead the offshore team, and ensure system performance, availability and reliability across SAP environments.

Based at Embassy Gardens, London, the role involves hands-on installs, upgrades, monitoring, DR planning, and mentoring the Basis team, with collaboration across infrastructure to implement best practices.

Qualifications

• Significant experience of SAP Basis support and project delivery.
• People management experience, with the ability to lead and develop a team.
• Experience with SAP BTP and Cloud ALM.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
• Experience with Okta in an SAP environment.
• Experience with Automic or similar job scheduling tool.
• Professional SAP Basis certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the SAP Basis workstreams, including oversight of the offshore team, aligned with our Technology Strategy.
• Install, configure and upgrade SAP HANA environments using tools such as HDBLCM.
• Maintain and optimise our SAP landscape (ECC, BTP, GRC, IAS, Cloud ALM, Signavio) for performance and availability.
• Monitor and troubleshoot SAP HANA and environments using SAP HANA Studio and HANA Cockpit.
• Manage backup, recovery and disaster-recovery capabilities including point-in-time recovery and DR tooling.
• Apply understanding of SAP HANA architecture to support performance and problem resolution.
• Work in Linux environments with shell scripting and strong SQL/database fundamentals.
• Manage SAP transports, client administration and changes per PRH processes and upgrades.
• Collaborate with infrastructure to ensure backup/recovery/resilience practices.
• Maintain technical documentation and provide status updates to management.
• Mentor and guide the Basis team and provide on-call/after-hours support when required.
