Job Title: Senior Sales Development Representative
Location: London (Oval), United Kingdom
Type: Full-time, Office-based
Salary: £38,000 - £50,000 OTE
About us:
UK schools spend over £2bn annually on supply teachers to cover short-term absences. Currently, this market relies heavily on agencies that charge high commissions and operate inefficiently through paper and phone calls. We are transforming this fragmented, analogue marketplace into a digital platform — akin to Uber for supply teachers. Our platform helps schools and teachers connect reliably, reducing waste and positively impacting education. Zen empowers schools to focus on what truly matters: our children.
The opportunity:
Join a fast-growing tech startup passionate about professional development and career growth. We seek experienced outbound sales professionals who enjoy engaging prospects via phone and in-person visits. As a senior team member, you'll build a sales pipeline, serve as a role model, and facilitate training for new SDRs.
What you'll be doing:
- Calling and visiting school leaders and senior administrators to introduce Zen Educate and schedule follow-ups.
- Planning and conducting training sessions for team members.
- Representing Zen Educate at school visits and events to engage senior staff.
- Calling teachers and teaching assistants to promote Zen Educate as an alternative to traditional agencies.
- Educating supply teachers on using the Zen Educate app to enhance their experience.
- Reviewing calls with colleagues to share best practices and improve performance.
- Contributing to a dynamic startup environment where flexibility and teamwork are essential.
What we are looking for:
- Passion for sales and a desire to build a successful career in this field.
- A commitment to meaningful work that makes a difference.
- Enjoyment in interacting with teachers, assistants, and school leaders.
- Resilience and perseverance in the face of challenges.
- Strong work ethic and results-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging senior stakeholders.
- Dedication to continuous learning through books, podcasts, and other resources.
- Effective time management to maximize productivity.
- Energized by achieving and surpassing targets.
Experience & Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience exceeding targets in sales or fundraising.
- Proven resilience and high-quality work ethic.
- Experience or passion related to UK education or making an educational impact.
- Interest in startups and technology.
- Teaching experience (preferred but not required).
What's in it for you?
- Engaging work that you'll be proud to discuss.
- Competitive salary and company ownership opportunities.
- 25 days of holiday.
- Central London office with amenities like fresh fruit, bike parking, showers, gym, and café.
- Summer hours with early finishes during August holidays.
- A fun, close-knit team solving meaningful problems.
- One-on-one coaching, life and health insurance, electric car scheme, and Cycle to Work scheme.
We look forward to hearing from you!
