Position Description
The UK & Ireland Sales team are looking for a (Senior) Sales Applications Specialist to drive and grow sales across the Molecular Diagnostics, Academic Research and Biotech markets as part of a regional team within the Midlands and South West UK. As the successful candidate you will work within the regional team alongside Sales Account Managers to act as a portfolio specialist, shaping and aligning customer requirements with the most suitable QIAGEN solutions. You will drive both pre-sales and post-sales activities with a particular focus on closing new sites and executing implementation plans to enable new customer acquisition and routine testing. Key responsibilities:
- Identify and interpret customer requirements, and align these requirements with QIAGEN’s extensive portfolio of instruments.
- Complete workflow support, product demonstrations, application consulting, workshops, on-site training and support.
- Maintain and develop positive relationships with customers, and references. Assist in the development and maintenance of reference customers.
- Budget achievement through the growth of existing accounts and the identification and development of new customers within the Midlands and South West UK geography.
- Effective weekly/monthly planning of field based activities.
- Maintain and expand market knowledge including market and technology trends, commercial awareness of competitors, clinical and academic networks, latest guidelines and testing recommendations.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor of Science, PhD or equivalent experience.
- Strong lab/working experience either within the academic sector or molecular diagnostics, or as an Application Specialist with similar technologies.
- Proven experience with complex capital sales and developing customer relationships. A consultative selling approach.
- Knowledge of relevant markets and competitive landscape – Molecular Diagnostics and Academic Research.
- Ability to work with several stakeholders in a structured and organized fashion.
- Located within the Midlands and South West area with a willingness to travel to customer sites 80% of the time (full driving license essential). Key Accounts located within the areas of Sheffield, Nottingham, Birmingham, Cardiff, Oxford, Bristol and Southampton.
